  1. That’s a really pretty clematis! I can see why you confused the two. The flowers are similar. The native one is even prettier than the armandii! It grows wild all the way into northern CA not that far from us. I imagine it would do fine here. I just found one at Annies online and sent for it. I’m going to plant it near my entryway in an oak “grove”. It says it’s fragrant (which the armandii isn’t), and that it’s a great bee and butterfly plant! Yea… Thanks for mentioning it. I love planting natives that will take care of themselves once they are established.
